When companies start to feel the pinch of a diminishing economy, it's natural for them to subscribe to a survival mode mentality. Unfortunately, that makes the marketing function an easy target for elimination. Typically a short-term decision that looks good on paper will be exposed when confronted with serious competition or when the organization decides it is ready to return to a grow strategy.

 

The search to find a full-time marketing person can be very time consuming and not yield the desired results. Hiring a marketing expert on a part time basis allows companies to bring experience immediately on board and to attack the challenge at hand more economically. Some might see that as a "Win/Win" solution.
